The role of packing in the lighter insert
In a wick lighter, fuel is stored in absorbent packing and drawn from inside the insert by the wick. The packing helps keep fuel in the right place and limits its free movement inside the body.
During maintenance, arrange the packing around the wick inside the insert. Carefully placed packing follows the wick's path, providing a route for fuel to the ignition area while keeping loose pieces from protruding beyond the body.
Safe handling and refilling
Perform maintenance with the lighter extinguished and cool, away from flames, sparks, and hot surfaces. After positioning the packing, fill the insert with fuel intended for wick lighters, not gas for pressurized lighters.
Add fuel gradually to give the packing time to absorb it. Clean up any spilled fuel and wash your hands before reassembly. Keep the lighter and fuel container securely closed and store them out of children's reach, away from heat sources.
