The Tasman Neon Leaf is for someone who deliberately chooses a classic lighter-fluid system. In this design, fluid saturates the wick, and a spark produces a flame. The lighter requires periodic refilling with the correct fluid and careful handling, but the same lighter can be used for an extended period.

In a liquid-fuel lighter, fluid is carried to the wick, and the spark produced when the mechanism is operated ignites its vapors. This distinguishes it from gas and electric models: it uses neither a gas reservoir nor a battery-powered arc.

Extinguish the flame immediately after use. If the lighter becomes harder to light, one possible cause is a low fuel level; before refilling, however, make sure the mechanism is cool and away from any flame.

Refill only with fluid intended for liquid-fuel lighters and follow the instructions for the specific design. Work away from flames, sparks, and hot surfaces. Add fluid gradually to avoid overfilling the insert or spilling liquid.

Afterward, remove any traces of fluid from the housing and your hands, tightly close the fuel container, and wait for vapors from any spills to disperse before lighting. Do not light the lighter while refilling or directly above an open fuel container.

Safe storage

Store the Tasman lighter and spare fuel out of children's reach, away from sunlight, high temperatures, sparks, and open flames. Keep the fuel in a tightly sealed container intended for it. Do not use a damaged or leaking lighter.
